Journey to Inner Calm
C.I.C.
Helping children, young people and adults in West Cumbria feel calm, confident and happy to be themselves.
journey to inner calm c.i.c
Journey to Inner Calm C.I.C. is a Community Interest Company supporting the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, families and adults across West Cumbria. Everything we earn and every grant we receive goes back into supporting our local community.
We work on a prevention-first basis, reaching people early with practical tools and support, before challenges grow into crisis, time out of school, or time out of work and community life. Many of the people we support fall into the gap between everyday help and specialist services: struggling, but not meeting the threshold for statutory support
Our approach
We help people understand and manage their emotions, calm their nervous system and build genuine confidence. Our work draws on Children’s Mental Health Empowerment Mentoring, Belief Coding®, which gently helps people change the limiting beliefs they hold about themselves and other holistic wellbeing approaches. All our support is neurodiversity-informed, for people with autism, ADHD and sensory processing differences.
Support for children and young people
-
Happy to Be Me in schools: a wellbeing programme for pupils in Years 5 and 6, plus 1:1 mentoring days for children who need more support.
-
Happy to Be Me: Small Steps: groups, 1:1 mentoring and parent support for children aged 5 to 16 who are struggling to attend school. We are currently seeking funding to launch Small Steps in Whitehaven in 2027.
-
Transition support: helping children through big changes, such as moving up to secondary school.

support for adults and families
A child’s wellbeing is closely linked to how supported the adults around them feel, so we also work with parents, carers and adults in their own right.
This includes:
-
Parent and carer wellbeing sessions: time to rest, connect with others and learn practical tools to support themselves and their family.
-
Confidence and wellbeing programmes for adults: for people experiencing anxiety, low confidence or barriers to work.
-
1:1 and group Belief Coding® sessions: helping adults shift the beliefs holding them back.
-
Transition support: for people facing change, such as moving from school into work or returning to work.
We’re continuing to develop our programmes in response to what our community needs. Where possible, we offer fully or partly funded places, so that cost isn’t a barrier.
About our founder
Journey to Inner Calm C.I.C. was founded by Jenny Prince, an accredited Children’s Mental Health Empowerment Mentor, Belief Coding® Facilitator, meditation teacher and author of the Magical Mindfulness children’s book series.
Having experienced anxiety and overthinking herself, Jenny set up the CIC so that local children, and the adults around them, can have the tools she now uses to manage this from a young age.
